INFRA RED / THERMOGRAPHIC INSPECTION
Thermal imaging inspections provides us with a picture of the physical
unable to detect. Thermal imaging inspections can locate defective
connections or components in time to prevent them failing. A
temperature increase indicates areas, which Inspections are a useful
tool in preventive & predictive maintenance applications.
The value gained by our clients is that by identifying such problems
early (prior to failure), allows remedial action to be taken that will
ensure safety, system integrity and minimize the risk of expensive
repairs and equipment downtime. For example Infrared Inspection
Surveys should be conducted before the end of the warranties expire
on mechanical & electrical equipment and machinery. Ward
Leonard infrared test inspections can also be used to monitor and
document pre and post machinery repair work. Thermal imaging
Infrared surveys are both noninvasive & nondestructive. Using the
latest infrared technology and diagnostic equipment our
thermographers scan, test and diagnose system problems and the
condition of equipment.
Ward Leonard Thermal Imaging inspections provide a premium
service utilizing the highest levels of quality controlled inspection
procedures, accurate data collection, and the provision of a
comprehensive detailed report to facility managers and owners.

All electrical systems, equipment and components will deteriorate once
commissioned. This deterioration comes in many forms, for example, loose
or corroded connections and joints, insulation All electrical systems,
equipment and components will deteriorate example, loose or corroded
connections and joints, insulation All subsequent rise in temperature. If
uncorrected this rise in connections result in a high resistance across the
connection with a temperature will continue to increase, overheating will
occur, leading to life shortening of the system through equipment and
leading to life shortening of the system through equipment and
component failure. In the most extreme circumstances system or equipment
failure can result in fire and possible explosion. Excessive loading of
electrical systems and equipment or phase imbalance of electrical systems
may also lead to failure. Deterioration and loading of electrical systems and is
not always apparent or detected by conventional routine maintenance or
periodic test and inspection.
All mechanical equipment and components are subject to
deterioration once commissioned. This deterioration may be in
many under or over lubrication. This deterioration will often
result in friction and higher than normal operating
temperatures which if left uncorrected will lead to
equipment and component failure. The environmental
conditions of such mechanical equipment and components
must also be taken into consideration. Plant is often
operating outside and is therefore subject to extremes of
weather which may result in additional corrosion and wear.
Internal equipment may also be subject to harsh operating
conditions such as chemicals and abrasives (and other
aggressive materials). This deterioration of detected by
conventional checks such as routine monitoring and
maintenance or vibration and oil analysis.
When equipment is in service and under load, existing faults and potential faults can become clearly visible with the aid of thermal imaging techniques.
In many cases this allows for instant fault diagnosis which in serious cases can be brought to the client’s attention immediately, allowing the necessary
remedial action to take place at an early stage. Minimising damage repair costs and system down time.
